3d Medical Animation - Surgical Treatment of Hypotropia

Hypertropia is a condition of misalignment of the eyes (strabismus), whereby the visual axis of one eye is higher than the fellow fixating eye. Hypotropia is the similar condition, focus being on the eye with the visual axis lower than the fellow fixating eye. During the surgery detachment of the inferior rectus muscle frees the binding of adhesions. The muscle is reattached further back allowing the eye to rotate upward. A 5mm segment of the superior rectus muscle and tendon is removed. Detachment and transposition of the superior oblique muscle.
