Umbilical Cord Compression & Interactive Fetal Monitor

Umbilical Cord Compression & Interactive Fetal Monitor

In this case, it was claimed that errors committed by the doctor during the delivery of this child resulted in permanent brain damage. Specifically, the claim was that the brain was injured during the use of a vacuum extractor.Trial Exhibits was asked to create a presentation of an alternate theory to show that the injury to this baby occurred much earlier due to umbilical cord compression during the mother’s contractions. The Trial Exhibits solution was to create a combination of a custom medical animation, a stock medical illustration and a custom interactive presentation to present all the facts of the case.Click here to view this video on our YouTube pageFirst, it was necessary to create an animation of fetal oxygenation showing the importance of the umbilical cord in carrying oxygen from the mother and placenta to the fetus in utero. Next, we showed how the umbilical cord can become entrapped during labor and how compression of the cord can obstruct blood flow to the baby.

Animating Systems

Animating Systems

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video must be worth at least a million. When trying to describe a system or mechanism, a series of images would be helpful, but if the system involves motion or action an animation is so much easier to understand.Click here to watch this video on our YouTube pageTake this animation for example. In this case we needed to quickly and effectively explain the mechanism of modern robotic surgery and how the surgeon controls the robotic instruments remotely while seated at a control console.Utilizing animation, we could show how the surgeon manipulates the hand controls of the console and how this results in movement of the instrument arms of the robot. Furthermore, a 3D view inside the patient combined with an inset enlargement of the surgeon’s hands allows us to clearly show the fine movement control permitted with this system. If you need an illustration or animation for your case feel free to browse our large library of stock exhib

Shoulder Dystocia

Shoulder Dystocia

This case involved a difficult delivery where the baby’s shoulder become lodged in the mother’s pelvis resulting in injury to the nerves that extend down through the shoulder into the baby’s arm. It was claimed that the actions of the doctor caused the nerve injury during an attempt to dislodge the shoulder. Trial Exhibits was called upon to show that the injury occurred as the result of the natural forces of labor and that the doctor never applied any traction or pulling force while performing the maneuvers to dislodge the shoulder.Click here to view the video on our YouTube pageThe Trial Exhibits solution was to create a custom medical animation demonstrating the key steps of the shoulder dystocia and the maneuvers employed to release the shoulder. First, we showed how the maternal forces of contractions and maternal pushing advance the baby down into the birth canal. Next, we showed how a combination of these forces with the impaction of the shoulder caused the stretching
